Night Halo
Something encircled the nearly-full moon. A lunar rainbow. Ice crystals, from thin and high cirrus-stratus clouds that covered much of the sky, refract light. According to folklore, a halo around the moon is a sign of upcoming bad weather. A gust of cool wind made her shiver. The colors were hard to discern. How can something so beautiful be so frightening at the same time?
The cool air of the night and the halo around the evening light reminded her of angels. Rainbows are a sign of the Lord's promise. And she stared at it for so long, both in admiration and curiosity. She believed (and knew) that everything would be okay.
