Iba, Zambales

It really helps to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city every once in a while. A 4-hour drive from Manila will take you to the wonderful beaches of Zambales.

The waters of Zambales are part of the West Philippine Sea, and it is a good place to go snorkeling and fish feeding. During our stay, schools of fish jumping on the far side were appreciated.

The place where we went to was a public beach at Lipay-Dingin. Throughout the long stretch of the beach, there were only 3 small resorts. The beach boasts of a long coast with fine, light gray sand and a vast blue sea.

The locals in Zambales were really hospitable and it's not difficult to go around town and ask help for directions. The people were also very proud of the achievements of their town.

There were a lot of beach dogs who were enjoying the sun and sand. Since it is a public beach, backpackers can opt to go camping by the beach. Locals prefer making small huts using kawayan and coconut leaves. Either way, the fresh air and blue water will definitely help ease the stress from city life.

Other suggested stop by places:
Subic, Zambales - visit and shop at the freeport area, go scuba diving
Olongapo City - seafood food trip
San Marcelino, Zambales - Home of the Juiciest Singkamas!
Iba, Zambales Markets - There is an abundance of fresh and sweet mangoes in Zambales. Be sure to visit at around April, during their mango festival.
Masinloc, Zambales - the town has a mangrove sanctuary which protect the mango trees and houses a lot of fish.
